Schmid Endowment to Fund Reaching the Age of Majority Booklet

A recent contribution by Virginia Schmid to the Marvin G. and Virginia C. Schmid Education Endowment will make it possible for all Nebraska high school students graduating in 2011 to receive a copy of the Foundation's publication, Reaching the Age of Majority. This popular booklet will be made available free of charge to all 25,000 Nebraska seniors by the end of this school year. To request copies for your school's graduating seniors, please contact Cindy Lilleoien at 402-475-1042 or by filling out an online order.

Reaching the Age of Majority is a unique resource that can act as a roadmap to help young Nebraskans become good citizens. For more than 10 years, the Foundation has annually distributed more than 10,000 copies to teachers and other youth leaders who have requested them. The Schmid gift will make it possible to more than double this year's distribution of the booklet that addresses more than 30 areas of the law, outlining the rights and responsibilities of young citizens. The Schmids' contributions to the Bar Foundation will be featured on the inside cover of the new edition of the booklet.

Virginia Schmid's late husband Marvin was the fourth president of the Bar Foundation, and she has established the Schmid Endowment in his honor. Virgina will be recognized at the annual Foundation Fellows Dinner for achieving membership in the Legacy of Liberty's "Let Freedom Ring" Society, and she will accept, on behalf of Marvin Schmid, recognition as a Diamond Distinguished Fellow of the Foundation. The Diamond level of giving is the highest recognition the Foundation gives to its most generous benefactors.
