For the first time in Nebraska State Mock Trial history, a school advanced two teams from regional competition into the State Mock Trial Championships. One of those teams, Skutt Catholic High School - Green defeated the North Platte High School team in the championship round on December 7th in Lincoln to win the State Mock Trial title. The Honorable Lyle E. Strom, Federal District Court Judge for the District of Nebraska, presided over the final trial held at the Lancaster County Courthouse.

The Skutt team played the defense in the criminal case where Alex Toakliss, a senior at Goldenrod University, found him/herself charged with manslaughter after an annual ritual at a Halloween party went tragically wrong. Skutt – Green will represent Nebraska at the National High School Mock Trial Championship in Phoenix, Arizona, May 5-7th, 2011.

Over 60 volunteer judges and attorneys from the Lincoln area served as both performance and presiding judges in the four rounds of competition.

Members of the winning team are Danielle Desa, Michael Judah, Nathan Jensen, Matthew Rago, Haley Eck, Brenna Rossi and Caressa Sedlak. The team's teacher coach is Mary Meyers. Judy and Patrick Borchers are the attorney coaches.

Members of the second-place team from North Platte are Audrey Bellew, Tullen Mabbutt, Ronald van Donk, Jamie Panzer, Rachel Southard, Mikayla Wiseman, Logann Epley, and Austin Bomberger. David Cooper and Cassie Slaught are the team's teacher coach and Jennifer Wellan is the team's attorney coaches.

Taking third place in the championship was Skutt - White. Ainsworth High School was the fourth place winner. Other schools winning their regional Mock Trial competition and competing in the State Championship received honorable mention. They are York, Scotus Central Catholic, Northwest – Grand Island, Gering, Dundy County Stratton, Fillmore Central, Battle Creek and Papillion-LaVista South.
